General Questions

Do I need to have taught Active Physics before to apply?

No, you do not need to have taught Active Physics before. However, you must be planning to teach Active Physics chapters in the Fall 2008 semester ("Physics in Action") and/or in the Spring, 2009 semester ("Let Us Entertain You"). Teachers who use Integrated Coordinated Science, Active Physical Science or Coordinated Science for the 21st Century that includes these Active Physics chapters are also invited to participate.

Do I need to be a physics teacher to apply? / Do I need a working knowledge of physics to apply?

While you do need to be a science teacher, you do not need to be a trained physics teacher and physics does not need to have been your major in college. By participating, you will either learn crucial physics and/or develop your understanding of classroom physics.

Can more than one teacher from a school/district participate?

We encourage all science teachers who will be teaching Active Physics in the Fall 2008 and/or Spring 2009 semesters to apply. Multiple applications from the same school or district are encouraged.

Do I need to obtain permission from my principal/superintendant to apply?

Your school will need to already have purchased and agreed to use Active Physics curriculum in order to apply. You will need permission from your principal to participate. Please see the registration materials.
