Hey there.. some people at the workshop discussed wanting to know where to get the pop up toys.  Here is a link to a great cheap bulk web site.. orientaltrading.com  here they have ones your kids can create or for even less money (like $5 for 24) just do a search for pop up.

hope this helps.

Thanks for feeding my addiction to gadgets Tracy. Wink  Now I have 3 dozen popup toys on the way.  Couldn't bring myself to pay 6 bucks shipping on a 3 dollar order for a dozen so I got two dozen clown fish and a dozen monsters.  Should last me for a while.

BTW, I found a source for cheap laser levels, although I can't access the site today.  Check out Homier.com for Speedway levels.  Supposedly they sell for $2.99 each so I ordered 7 of them.  Hope it isn't a scam although with Paypal I should get my money back if it turns out it is.

I received the pop-up toys today in the mail.  It's a nice assortment of monsters and clown fish that seem to work as well as the toys supplied in the kits.

I also received the laser levels from homier.com.  They look to be a really good bargain at $2.99 ea.  They run on AAA batteries and provide a usable laser dot.  There is no diffraction grating to put over the laser outlet, but that should be easy enough to manufacture to get a laser line.

I found a torpedo laser level at Walmart on clearance (Macy's brand or something like that).  It comes with a tripod and has an integral grating.  These would work great for the optics in chapter 5.  I'm looking about for a cheap level that will provide a laser X and will report back if I find one.
