My students modified the challenge to be a sound and light show to go along with a children's story. They will be video taped, and a copy of the story with the tape will be donated to the children's hospital in town. They are really working on the sound and light concepts and not wasting time on writing a script or creating a story. They also created 2 seperate rubrics: 1 for the written physics concepts with understanding, and 1 for the show-entertainment and "story understanding".

 Delores this is a great idea for streamlining the process.And how great for the chldren's hospital. We just finished the final challenge for the sports broadcast and used video clips on the LCd that we downloaded from various internet sites. We wasted alot of time searching and downloading the clips and figuring out how to use windows media player. Once we had the clips though the script writing went quickly and they loved the options for slow play and clicking on one frame at a time to explain a concept. They acted out the the sport of their choice for the first minichallenge with sports equipment for props. It was fun and flexible and did not take alot of time but the noise level and flying balls in the science lab was a bit hair raising. I am on to light and sound after Thanksgiving.   
Dan Thanks for the ideas on the steel ball and pole vaulting. Your forcemeter idea was also a help earlier.
