I felt the light sources  in my room were too low to really see that the images are upside down.  (yet they can see this in the first step).  I found using either candles work better.  I know with my freshman I was worried to death about candles.  so some got to use them as others I didnt trust did not and spoke to the group of why they didnt.  (this helped them not horseplay as much).  Also a light bulb with a socket that plugs directly into a wall socket works well for they can really focus on the filament inside and see the inverted image.
