Activity 1 and 2 have different layouts on the site. Which organization scheme did you find more useful?

I find the organization based on the Activity sections easier to navigate.  It helps to decide where certain comments belong, it also helps me narrow in and locate the information I am looking for.

Also, I think this style helps me to anticipate what information to expect when I am reading a comment.  If someone like me forgets to detail exactly what I am refering to, it should be fairly obvious for the reader what topic I am on.

The Activity 1 set-up seems to be more intuitive.... I vote for that one.

I prefer the Activity 1 organization, but like the clean lines of Activity2.  Perhaps you could drop the 7E's from the section descriptions.

"The Proof is in the Pudding," so to speak.  Since I've not let students loose yet on this activity or have even taught this curriculum, I guess the consensus seems to be in favor with layout #1

Activity 2 appears less "busy" but Activity 1 corresponds more with the layout of the Active Physics curriculum therefore I prefer it.   Smiley

I must concur with the rest of the group.  I like the  layout of chapter 1 better because if I have a question regarding something is particular (or a great idea) I would like to be able to find it quickly and not get caught up in reading everyones post because I miss them so much !!   Matt -

One last note - I'd drop the CH1A1... descriptors from the matrix.   Just put the section descriptors under each activity.     i.e. -  Not "Ch1A1 What do you think" - simply "What do you think." Due to the nice directory structure listed at the top of each page, you can see where you are easily and it should reduce the workload for you as you set up all the categories.

The only problem with deleting the "Ch1A1" is that in some cases, it's all you see. If there are dozens of sections, called What do you think, it may get confusing.

Dear all:

As I indicated Chapter 1 Activity 1 has been completed with the first kids at MR(CS)2, almost all SPED.  They loved it.
I voted for the Activity 1 format, but I too like the neatness of Activity 2.  I am using the 4Qs in a modified format using Power point for the kids after they complete the questions so they can see their results the following day.  I also am using the 7E's with my 2 other E's for Enthusiam and Experts to help in this process.  I am using Arthur's recommended format for notebooks and it is working well so far.  We check their notebooks daily.  I used Matt's CW sheet for Activity 1 (sans the p. 57) and it worked well.  Thanks so much.

The hard part is coming up.  We now have 112 new freshman students arriving on August 23.  We have two Math teachers to teach 88 of these kids AC Physics-Math I - Math I Lab and I have to train them.  One is in my classroom right now learning during the summer with the SPED kids which is good. Manual Avila (my assistant who is a Physics student at U of Chicago) is helping as well.

I want to sell all 6 math teachers and the 2.5 science teachers (the principal is an old Math teacher) on the Active Physics format for
learning in all math and science subjects, using alot of the Physics Plus and other Physics math during the 55 minute Math Lab period for freshman, sophomores and juniors.
