What did students tell you for the what do you think? What were the surprises?

Students persist in thinking that moving horizontally defers falling for some time or reduces the amount of falling. They see this in Road runner cartoons and seem to believe it. Even when they get this idea they think that "falling" is not happening to an object that is moving upwards- like the monkey and hunter question where the bullet is inclined upwards. They think that falling will not happen until after the bullet has reached its peak, then falling can happen as usual.

Students generally like observing and projecting objects.  Ask them movie or history questions like how were castles stormed, how did pirates/Vikings take ships, how were cannons/gernade launchers used in battle, ...
