anyone have any quick tips of how to use a photogate.  I have tried with the vernier probe and am having trouble having the cbl seeing the photogate.

Tracy - looks like the new kits have self-contained photo-gates.  These should allow you to take measurements without worrying about the connections for Vernier stuff.   That won't help you make better use of existing equipment though...

Perhaps it is a question of which thing is turned on first. Maybe the photogate needs to be turned on prior to the cbl turning on. Back when I could afford such equipment, this was often the problem.
