Did you have any problems with the “For You To Do” section?

We found the tennis ball in the kit was very difficult to work with, it stuck to the floor, stuck to the ruler, etc.  Is there a ball that you found more user-friendly??

I found that the students didnt really understand why they were making a force meter.  I have tried to explain that a light push from me may be very different then one from someone else and we need a way to make these pushes consistant over time and person but I dont think they really understood.   felt using larger balls like a bowling ball (i got some free from a bowling alley that couldnt use them anymore) a basketball and beach ball roughly the same size).  With some of my special ed students they worked better in just trying to force the ball without making the ruler bend at all and then bending alot to compare a smal force and a large force.  otherwise I wish I could say I had better success with this activity.  I feel giving examples and having my student come up with some did a better job of reinforcing Newton's second Law.
