In the For You To Do, students are meant to “Explore” the phenomena of the activity, making careful observations and drawing some conclusions about what is at work. What successes did you have in facilitating this? Did you develop or locate any resources you would like to share with other teachers?

Students really like this activity and all want to be the one on the skateboard demonstrating the activity. I have found that leading a class discussiona and working through the activity together and then letting all students that want to "Take a ride" do that, that all are happy and all have had the same experience.

Also, if you hold a bathroom scale and the students pushes off on the "wrong" side of the scale, the student can measure the force of the scale pushing back.

We also discussed being able to use to spring scales hooked together and having the students push off each other.

If you have the student ride the skateboard in the hallway, past an open door, the students in the classroom can see the motion without the slowing down.
